University Chaplaincy

Pastor Mia Pusa is the University Chaplain for all international students, doctoral candidates, post doctorate researchers and personnel of the University of Turku, Åbo Academy and Novia University of Applied Sciences. Pastor Tiina Hallikainen is the University Chaplain at Turku University and Pastor Atte Airaksinen is the University Chaplain at the University of Applied Sciences.

Counseling is available free of charge and bound by professional confidentiality; the University Chaplaincy bases all its work on the principles of safer space.

Counseling does not require a person to be a Christian or to be religious. Discussions are based on those topics a person needs to talk about and can certainly include spirituality and religion if that is what is required. 

The meeting place for counseling can be, for example, the Campus Chapel (Rehtorinpellonkatu 4) or any other convenient location. Another possibility is a counseling walk. Other counseling options include telephone calls or discussions on media apps, such as, Teams, Zoom, WhatsApp or FaceTime. 

In addition to counseling, the University Chaplains also offer the possibility of counseling on work related issues (työnohjaus) for those who are employed by any of the universities in Turku.
